“…the essence of the old soul-jazz organ groups.” – New York Times
Jim Hall, Maceo Parker, John Scofield and James Taylor are just a few of the headliners who have sought out the unparalleled organ artistry of Larry Goldings. Although he got started on the piano, Goldings is best known as a dyed-in-the-wool Hammond B3 man. With driving bass lines on par with Jimmy Smith and Larry Young, and a powerful melodic sense that can turn a groove inside out, it’s no mystery that he’s been first pick for the big guys since graduating from Manhattan’s New School in the late 1980s. Nowadays, it’s Larry’s own trio (featuring Peter Bernstein on guitar and Bill Stewart on drums) that takes center stage; best be there when their soul-jazz sparks start to fly.
