Stan Poplin:  Insights into Jazz Bass, Volume II

Educator/musician Stan Poplin will focus on the workings of the bass players roll in the performance setting. Topics to be covered include developing bass lines, addressing rhythmic aspects and techniques used to add excitement and variation. Mr Poplin will also present ideas for the development of a melodic concept to help in playing improvised solos. The class will include a live performance to demonstrate the bass’s role in varied settings from solo to bass ensemble. Students of all levels are invited to attend. Bring your instrument if you’d like! Stan Poplin is a local musician and educator who has performed with major name artists since the 1970s.
