Come hear our next generation of jazz musicians! The Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band is an all-star ensemble of high school musicians representing all of Santa Cruz County.  The Band provides a workshop for developing the students’ jazz repertoire, improvisation and performance skills.  For over a decade, Kuumbwa Jazz has provided this unique opportunity to deserving musicians.  It is an integral aspect of our mission and enormous purpose and pride go into improving the program each year.

The Honor Band has been jamming around town this past school year, including swingin’ sets at Bocci’s and Shadowbrook. Additional upcoming concerts include a fundraiser for Jazz Education Programs at Woodstock’s Pizza on Thursday, May 3rd and First Friday Art Tour at Kuumbwa Jazz on Friday, June 1st. Auditions for the 2012-13 Jazz Honor Band will be held in the fall.

Dedicated music educator and trombonist Steve Wilson directs the band.  Wilson currently teaches music at Cabrillo College and Harbor High School.
