Pianist Danilo Perez has performed with numerous jazz luminaries, including Wayne Shorter, Roy Haynes and Steve Lacy, but he is most at home when leading his own trio. Since his debut with Dizzy Gillespie’s United Nations Orchestra in 1988, Perez has grown into one of the most dynamic musician/composers performing today. His compositions always find new ways to incorporate his Latin roots with the jazz tradition, adding a touch of European classical music. Energetic without being bombastic, Perez chooses to seduce rather than overwhelm. Providencia is his latest recording on Mack Avenue Records.
