It has been over 40 years since the release of Swiss Movement by Les McCann and the late Eddie Harris. Recorded in concert at the Montreax Jazz Festival, Swiss Movement introduced two soul jazz classics – Compared To What and Cold Duck Time – to the world. And now, Swiss Movement Revisited reprises the music of that landmark recording, but this time with Javon Jackson and his youthful band interjecting new material alongside the classics of McCann and Harris. McCann’s gravelly vocal delivery, influenced by a background deeply rooted in gospel and blues, remains fresh, energized by Jackson’s muscular tenor saxophone and the driving support of his rhythm section.
