Santa Cruz, Calif. singer/songwriter Kendra McKinley combines captivating vocal melodies with exotic chord progressions and intricate guitar-picking, delighting a wide range of listeners. Kendra, 21, also specializes in creating refreshingly complex harmonies with a loop pedal, layering her extensive vocal range that can bring the rowdiest crowd to a standstill. Her lyricism relies heavily on imagery and intimacy, recalling various personal aspects of her life.
This concert celebrates the release of Kendra’s debut album “Chestnut Street”, recorded independently in collaboration with the North Pacific Company. The album, featuring all original work, was recorded to tape at UCSC’s Kresge Town Hall, relying on the venue’s acoustics for natural reverb. This project came to fruition thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign.
