He mesmerizes audiences. He will stretch out on a grand piano. Ruth Davies from the Elvin Bishop and late Charles Brown band will be on acoustic -standup bass, Leon Joyce Jr. on drums previously from The Ramsey Lewis Trio, and Danny Sandoval a master on tenor saxophone. Members of her gospel choir will also perform inspirational and gospel music in this special celebration of her 20th year in music.
An award winning singer/songwriter and performer, Parker started her professional career in Santa Cruz in 1992. Since then, she has travelled and toured worldwide and has been recognized for her captivating stage presence and rich contralto vocal power. Her 11th CD release “Living In the Danger Zone” recently earned a BMA nomination for “Best Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year 2013” by the Blues Foundation. Voting takes place at www.blues.org. Born in Gary, Indiana, Monica developed her vocal chops between Chicago and Detroit singing in church choirs and listening to singers on the city streets.
