The Bad Plus has spent over a decade challenging and refining what a piano/bass/drums trio can, and should, be. On their eighth album, titled Made Possible, bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Ethan Iverson and drummer David King are taking their distinctive aesthetic to new heights. Layers of synthesizer and electronic drum sounds can be heard prowling amid the trio’s signature acoustic palette. The album’s nine tracks, including eight originals, showcase all that this trio is capable of, plus the new twists and turns with which they always surprise.
