The Modern-Day Sinatra, Artist Emile Welman Prepares for a Four-Date Solo Mini-Tour sweeping through the Central Coast and Northern California. “Emile Welman – The Love Away Tour, featuring Michael Norwood” will Showcase his Signature Jazz-Inspired; R&B/ Hip-Hop Influenced Sound.

The Overtone frontman Emile Welman has a voice compared to “that of Frank Sinatra’s” – Tony Bennett.

This year is said to be a break-out year for the swag new modern-day Sinatra, artist Emile Welman, a frontman for the award-winning a cappella vocal band Overtone. Emile is boldly stepping out in a solo-career, with his signature jazz inspired; R&B/hip-hop influenced sound, with a new album in the works.

Welman begins his solo endeavor on the road with his “Emile Welman – The Love Away Tour, Featuring Michael Norwood.” Emile’s ambitious solo trek begins in his U.S. hometown of Carmel. After his early 2012 move to Los Angeles, the South African-born artist is delighted to come back to the cozy beach town by-the-sea.

The March 9 show brings the jazzy R&B swing singer to Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch. This is of special significance since it was Clint’s wife, Dina Eastwood, who discovered Emile and his musical brothers of Overtone in South Africa in 2009 during the filming of Clint’s movie Invictus. Emile and the band presented several memorable performances at Mission Ranch the last couple of years, making it a perfect launching pad for Emile’s solo career.

“Mr. Welman, as the lead singer of Overtone, possesses truly extraordinary talent as a singer and songwriter.” – Legendary actor and filmmaker |
Clint Eastwood.

For his new project, Emile will be showcasing his love of hip-hop and R&B with a twist, or more accurately, with a swing alongside his new management firm, Tunnel Vision Entertainment.

With a range of more than three octaves, Emile’s crooning voice is perfectly suited for the smoky, sultry class of the jazz and swing eras, a style Emile is intent on bringing back in vogue. With his South African charm, pin-up good looks and impeccable style and taste, Emile has the total package to pull off his vision for an urban-friendly spin on jazz. Emile’s secret sauce is an R&B/Hip-Hop swagger that will attract contemporary radio listeners abroad. Emile is eager to share his new sounds on this upcoming promotional tour. Michael Norwood will be taking stage as the featured opening act which will include his soulful rendition of The Stylistics classic ‘People Make The World Go ‘Round’ from Michael’s new CD project titled ‘Heart Beatz’. This song is more than a catchy groove with a melodic hook. It speaks of hard-working people taking a stand for what they believe in and want out of life”, says Norwood.
