“… distinctive and intriguing.” – The Washington Post

Madeleine Peyroux has come a long way from her days of singing on the streets of Paris. Originally inspired by the great Billie Holiday, Peyroux has matured into a creative vocalist whose artistic curiosity knows no bounds. Recently, she has found a new muse in the legacy of the late Ray Charles, specifically Ray’s most popular (and at one time controversial) album: Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music. Her latest project, The Blue Room, conceived and produced by the legendary GRAMMY-Award winner Larry Klein (Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Herbie Hancock), revamps the music from Charles’ landmark recording, along with choice gems by songwriters Randy Newman, Warron Zevon, John Hartford, Leonard Cohen, and Buddy Holly. The album recently debuted as the #1 bestselling jazz album on Billboard, iTunes and Amazon. For Peyroux, music categories are irrelevant. As she puts it, “The only thing that matters is the song.”
