Jazz Hero – Ray Brown

The Jazz Journalists Association (JJA) is an international group of media professionals working to advance the legacy of jazz music through journalistic endeavors. Each year the JJA awards dozens of “Jazz Heroes” nationwide during the Month of April – Jazz Appreciation Month. Jazz Heroes are activists, advocates, and altruists who have had a significant impact on Jazz in their local community. Kuumbwa Jazz nominated educator Ray Brown as our local Jazz Hero. Ray was presented with his award prior to the sold out performance of Regina Carter’s Southern Comfort, Monday, April 21st. Click on photo for more details on the award.
