Silent Auction

Offering 1

One 1.5 liter Dunn Vineyards
1997 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain

This wine boasts significant complexity with an array of ripe blackberry, black stone fruit and dried blackcurrant flavors. The spicy bouquet showed masses of sweet cardamom, vanilla, dried black tea and dried orange zest. Other secondary characteristics included tanned leather, sweet pipe tobacco, black truffles, forest floor and iron. Oak tannins are well integrated and the bright acidity lends noticeable lift to the aromatics. Very long and focused.

One 1.5 liter Kenwood Vineyards
2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, Artist Series

Our 2004 Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon is an extravagant wine of great depth and concentration exhibiting complex aromas of black currants, tea leaves and dark chocolate. The wine is ready for enjoyment now but its full-bodied tannins will allow it to improve for many years.

The 2004 Vintage marks the 30th release of Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon from Kenwood. The harvest produced Cabernet Sauvignon with a distinctly rich and ripe flavor that is followed by spicy and aromatic notes that add complexity. After picking, the grapes were crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks and then settled and racked twice before going down to barrels in December of 2004. After 30 months of barrel aging the best lots were carefully selected and then blended and bottled. After bottling, the wine was aged for an additional year and a half before it was released.

Offering 2

One Magnum of 2000 Chateau St. Jean Merlot Reserve

The Chateau St. Jean Merlot Reserve — Hypnotic aromas of bittersweet chocolate and black cherries lead to a plush entry filled with notes of blackberry, raspberry and hints of freshly ground coffee. A wine with solid structure, this Reserve Merlot is highly accessible at release time, and is built to age gracefully with cellaring.

One Magnum of  2006 Thomas Fogarty Estate Grown Chardonnay

Santa Cruz Mountain Chardonnay is “California Chardonnay” in name only. There is none of the heavy-handed winemaking and sweetness that is so pervasive throughout the Golden State. Instead we focus on citrus fruit and mineral flavors inherent to our cool, maritime, mountainous site. Bees wax, white flowers and pearflavors are concentrated. There are hints of spice from the oak, but it is more structural rather than flavoring agent.

There is depth of flavor, racy acidity and minerality on the long clean finish. All in all, very atypical for a California Chardonnay in its ability to be both rich and light on its feet. This wine proves that in certain regions California can produce Chardonnay with balance and depth without being over the top. Drink now and over the next five years.

Offering 3

One magnum (1.5 Liter) Beauregard Vineyards
2004 Cabernet Sauvignon

A dense, concentrated carmine red in the glass; this cabernet shows a wonderful complexity. Strawberries and notes of dried fig are evident. Currants, Skeena Cherries and a noticeable black plum flavor give this wine a fleshy mid-palate. The well integrated tannins have a hint of fine Beauregard Ranch dust. This Cabernet offers all the complexity, nuance, and fruit without the overwhelming vegetal character that coastal climate cabernets often have. Food Recommendations: Blackberry glaze on a rack of lamb. Magnum means “great” or “extra-large” in Latin. Magnum bottles also allow wine to age more gracefully, developing complexities not possible in the smaller bottle size. This wine will store well for 20+ years, or if you just can’t wait, it’s drinking beautifully now.

Collection of Three Superlative French Wines

750 ml Lignier Clos de la Roche 1995

Clos de la Roche is a Grand Cru vineyard and corresponding appellation of the Cote de Nuits sub-region in Burgundy. Covering about 42 acres, the site is one of the largest Burgundy Grand Cru vineyards in the area.  From International Wine Cellar: Saturated red-ruby color. Sauvage, superripe aromas of briary black cherry, espresso and tar; intriguing whiff of mushroomy earth. Large-scaled and dense; truly three-dimensional in texture. A wine of great sweetness, but also sharply focused and juicy on the palate. Ripe tannins coat the entire mouth, but are outlasted by explosive finishing fruit.

750 ml Leoville-Las-Cases 1983

Château Léoville-Las Cases is a winery in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Bordeaux region.  It encases a terroir of great complexity, as the plots contain many different types of soil composition. It is planted principally with Cabernet-Sauvignon, which at 66% is the predominant variety on the estate, the remainder being Merlot (24%), Cabernet Franc (9%) and Petit Verdot (1%). Parker: “The fully mature 1983 Leoville-Las Cases possessed a deep ruby color with no signs of lightening. An open-knit, smoky, cassis, and cedary-scented nose was followed by a supple, rich, medium to full-bodied wine with excellent definition, outstanding ripeness and concentration, and a spicy, soft, velvety-textured finish.

750 ml Domaine Guy Bernard Côte-Rôtie 2001

Guy was the third generation Bernard to run this estate and his sons took over from him in 2000. They are considered to be among the rising stars of Côte-Rôtie.  Their vineyards, in the northern Rhone Valley, are mainly on the southern Cote Blonde sector of the appellation and consequently their wines are generous and appealing on the surface with a serious structure underneath. Well worth the price of admission. Dark ruby, promising nose of dark cherry, earthy, savory spice. The palate is much more austere and understated, but still beautiful and elegant. Crisply acidic and youthfully tannic.the wine has a fragile balance of subtle aromas; an earthy, almost animal-like complexity; and elegant, delicate texture.
