“… an extraordinary revelation of contemporary vocal jazz.” – Le Jazz Hot
Cécile McLorin Salvant has been impressing audiences everywhere with her amazing voice and unique interpretations of obscure and familiar jazz compositions. The classically trained, multi-lingual Salvant, sings fluently in both French and Spanish. Her 2009 recording, Cécile, first caught the ear of jazz fans shortly before she won the 2010 Thelonious Monk Institute vocal competition. She has been winning converts to her music ever since in performances with Wynton Marsalis, Jacky Terrasson, and Archie Shepp. The New York Times says of her radiant talent, “Ms. Salvant has it all: perfect pitch and enunciation… exquisite taste in songs, and a deep connection to lyrics.” Her brand new release Woman Child (Mack Avenue) was nominated for “Best Jazz Vocal Album” as part of the 56th Annual GRAMMY awards to be televised on January 26, 2014.
