“…ebullient virtuosity…” – JazzTimes
A prodigious talent at an early age, organist Joey DeFrancesco was playing his own gigs at the age of ten with legendary musicians such as Philly Joe Jones and Hank Mobley, and signed his first recording contract at sixteen. After playing piano in Miles Davis’ 1980s groups, DeFrancesco played a key role in the revitalization of the Hammond B3 organ on the jazz scene. DeFrancesco’s latest project blends his signature sound with Latin rhythms, R&B and straight ahead jazz. The Vibe is a group of longtime friends, musical brothers Ramon and Tony Banda (drums and bass respectively), saxophonist Steve Wilkerson, guitarist Steve Cotter and percussionist Jose “Papo” Rodriguez.
