“JAZZ & POETRY”– Driving Jazz and Provocative Poetry!
UCSC POETS MEET STANFORD POETS ON STAGE!
Freddy Clarke‘s solo guitar performances and original compositions have likened him to “Segovia on acid” and “the Kenny G of flamenco guitar” and “Smashing Pumpkins meets Gypsy Kings.” Trained in classical guitar, he has opened for the San Francisco Ballet andsold out Yoshi’s in SF.
Freddy Clarke – along with the Jake Smolowe Trio and singer Steve deLaet – will musically embrace and blend the moods of UCSC and Stanford poets meeting on stage for the first time!
For UCSC – Rob Wilson (Prof. of Literature & Creative Writing), Eireen Nealand, Dan Talamantes…and more. Their poetry is influenced by musical modes of improvised form and post-beat language play.
For Stanford – Sibel Sayiner & poets from the Spoken Word Collective. Expect the unexpected!
Hosted & produced by Ryland Kelley, the old poet & performer, Stanford ’49, who created the Live Poets Society (and also Pajaro Dunes!) Join us!
