

50th Anniversary Celebration at San Lorenzo Park feat. SambaDá, Tony Lindsay with The Joint Chiefs & More
Join us in celebrating 50 years of Kuumbwa Jazz with an outdoor afternoon concert at San Lorenzo Park, featuring a dynamic lineup of live music, local food and drink, and the vibrant energy of our local community. This family-friendly event is free to attend and open to all.
Guests can enjoy beer and wine selections from Woodhouse Brewing and Alfaro Family Winery, along with delicious fare from Roux Dat Cajun Creole and Pana Food Truck.
Bike Santa Cruz County will be providing a free bike valet service on-site for all attendees.
This day of feel-good music will feature a lineup of five beloved local groups performing on the Duck Island Stage – celebrating the venue that hosted some of the very first Kuumbwa Jazz shows fifty years ago.
For over twenty years, SambaDá has been mixing contemporary sounds with the musical roots of Brazilian culture. SambaDá incorporates a wide range of styles, generations, and sensibilities. What unites this band through their diverse backgrounds is a magic that can be felt by both the band and the audience.
The Joint Chiefs Band has become one of the most versatile and exciting dance bands in the Northern California music scene. Since the group’s inception over thirty-six years ago, the group has garnered a dedicated following drawn to their electrifying live performances and diverse range of musical styles and influences. They’ll be joined by vocalist Tony Lindsay, who has garnered eleven GRAMMY awards and spent twenty-five years as the lead vocalist for Santana. Lindsay has become a regular performer for the Golden State Warriors, Santa Cruz Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and San Jose Sharks, singing The National Anthem. He is now the lead vocalist for iconic R&B group Maze.
West Grand Brass Band (WGBB) is a group of six talented musicians who combine brass band tradition with modern musical styles and timbres. Their music takes the form of an ever changing mix of traditional songs, re-imagined covers, and originals. Based in the cultural hub of Oakland, WGBB prides itself in creating a party wherever they perform.
The Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band program has been going strong for over thirty years and showcases some of the most talented student musicians from Santa Cruz County and the Central Coast region.
Celebrate with us at San Lorenzo Park on May 18 with a day of music, food, and community in honor of Kuumbwa Jazz’s 50th Anniversary.
